Email Scam Alert
Please be advised that there have been recent fraudulent emails and online job postings using Support Financial Resources’ name in an attempt to collect personal information to initiate a Western Union scam. Support Financial Resources does not email individuals directly to invite them for mystery shopping opportunities nor does SFR place ads for mystery shopping opportunities. The only legitimate invitation for mystery shopping with SFR would come directly from your financial institution.
The recent fraudulent emails usually have the subject line “Position Available” and use fictitious names such as Bruce Jackson, Dave Miller, James Edward and others. Be advised however, that scams are often modified slightly once detected so the emails may not match this description exactly.
The scam email asks for you to reply with your name and address information. If you received one of these emails, delete the email and do not reply.
It is important that you remain alert to attempts from scammers to take advantage of you by sending you emails portraying a mystery shopping assignment. Most mystery shopping scams will at some point in the scam involve sending you a check, usually for a large sum of money, and instructing you to wire a portion of it back to them as part of the evaluation. The checks are fraudulent and the victim will ultimately be responsible for the amount of the wire transfer, plus overdraft fees from the bank where they cashed the check, and possibly even legal action. (Cashing a fake check could land you in jail!) No legitimate mystery shopper program will send payment in advance and ask the shopper to send a portion of it back.
Support Financial Resources will NEVER mail you a check nor will we ever ask you to evaluate any store or cash advance organization and we will never ask you to wire or transfer money to another person or company’s account.
Always do your research before conducting business with a company online, but be aware that scammers can imitate and pretend to be from a legitimate company. Always compare any links sent to you in your e-mails to the link you are actually directed to and determine if they match and they actually belong to a legitimate site.
If you should ever have any uncertainty about whether mystery shopping information that was sent to you was from SFR, please feel free to call us at 1-800-444-5465, ext 105 or by email at dhilbig@serviceexperiences.com
Sincerely,
